Agriculture Students Learn Wild Hog Management

Northeast Jones Agriculture students under the instruction of Mr. Thomas Hall and Mrs. Ashley Wagnon heard from Ms. Peyton Pierce, the Youth Trapping Corps Coordinator of the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce, this morning regarding the management of wild hogs in Mississippi.  Ms. Pierce gave a very informative presentation regarding the history, life, proliferation, and management of wild hogs across the state of Mississippi.  Students were then taught the correct way to set up a 'smart trap'.    Northeast Jones FFA currently participates in the Wild Hog trapping program and has assisted several local landowners with the trapping of wild hogs damaging their property.
