Social Media Debate in ECS
Social Media Debate in ECS

Northeast Jones CTE students in Ms. Lisa Bolivar’s Exploring Computer Science class combined the learning target of considering the societal impacts of computing with a formal debate. Students considered the question: Has social media made us more connected or isolated? Students picked a side, joined with likeminded classmates, and researched their positions. They then defended their positions through opening statements, counter-arguments, rebuttals, and closing statements. With their teacher as the moderator, these students gained real-world experience while learning more about a very relevant topic.

Bolivar's Students Explore Agriculture Occupations

Ms. Lisa Bolivar’s Exploring Careers students have been learning about Agriculture occupations. As a culminating unit activity, students dug in and planted their very own variety of seeds. Students learned the proper steps to successfully grow their plants. Over the next few weeks, students will water and care for their seedlings while observing and recording their growth. Students pictured are: Jacob R, Landon F, Krystazia H, Maddy M, Rayce H, Charlie, H, and Logan T.
